The search is on for a new operator to take over a Sault Ste. Marie-to-Heart passenger train service after Canadian National Railway (CN) announced it will cease operations on July 15.

Pioneer Construction has been awarded an $8.4-million contract for highway work on Highway 71 near Sioux Narrows. The road will be resurfaced and drainage will be improved along 26 kilometres of highway. Work is expected to be completed in the fall.

Construction will begin this summer on the next portion of four-laning on Highway 69 between Sudbury and Parry Sound. The province has announced it will provide $19.4 million for this next stage of the ongoing, multi-year construction project.
