The City of Temiskaming Shores has won a national economic development award for the 2015 Northern Ontario Mining Showcase.

Temiskaming received the Marketing Canada Award from the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC), considered one of North America’s leading economic development organizations.

“We are delighted that the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase has been chosen by EDAC as one of Canada’s finest examples of impactful promotional events,” Temiskaming Mayor Carman Kidd said in a news release.

“This acknowledgment highlights the strong partnership that exists between the city, the partner communities that are directly involved in organizing the event, and FedNor, our funding partner.”

The national competition recognizes best practices, particularly focused on marketing initiatives which have had a direct impact on the economy.

Launched in 2013, the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase is a regional pavilion that gives mining supply and service companies from Northern Ontario an opportunity to display their products and services at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada’s (PDAC) annual convention.

PDAC is a leading mining showcase that attracts more than 1,000 exhibitors and 25,000 representatives from more than 125 countries annually.
