New Liskeard furniture maker takes top honours

Three H Furniture receives international design award

Three H Furniture Systems, a New Liskeard-based office furniture manufacturer, has added another award to the display case.

The family-owned company received a Best of the Year (BoY) award in the Furniture – Contract/Desking category for its Workshelf product at Interior Design magazine’s annual award event in New York, Dec. 1.

The awards program honours the year’s best products and projects from designers, architects, and manufacturers from around the world. In a Dec. 2 release from the company,

Workshelf is described a “new concept in open plan and private office design.”

“This win in the contract furniture desking category represents one of the highest A & D standards in the industry from around the world,” said the company in a statement. “We join other category winners: Gensler, Tuohy, Teknion, Bernhardt, among other boldface names, in setting the design trends in the industry.”

“We are very proud of Three H Furniture Systems for being a leader in their industry and thank them for continuing to operate their business in our small Northern Ontario community,” said James Franks, economic development officer for the City of Temiskaming Shores.

The company, which was established in 1973 by Heinz Dittmann, Helmer Pedersen and Helmut Moeltner, has received numerous industry design and government export awards. Roy Dittmann, son of Heinz, is the company president today.

Three H began by manufacturing middle to high-end European-style residential furniture until shifting into office furniture when the recession hit in the late 1980s. The manufacturer has made its mark in North America in the commercial and institutional market with its extensive catalogue of high-quality executive office furniture, work stations and other office accessories, much of it customized.
