The City of Temiskaming Shores has received $999,000 to complete its waterfront revitalization initiative.

The work will include enhancements along Lake Temiskaming in the communities of New Liskeard and Haileybury. Specifically, the funding will be used to establish a permanent farmers' market, complete lighting and landscaping upgrades, and make infrastructure improvements at the local marinas.

“Our downtown waterfront revitalization project is vital to ensuring sustainable growth and prosperity of the Temiskaming Shores region,” Temiskaming Mayor Carman Kidd said in a news release. “The funding announced today clearly demonstrates that the Government of Canada and FedNor recognize the needs of our community and are taking action to strengthen and grow our business and tourism industries.”

The funding announced today is provided through FedNor's Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation throughout the region.
