An inquest into the 2019 death of Sudbury mining contractor in the River Valley area has been postponed.
The inquest into the cause of death of Mark Paul Joseph Beskorowany, was scheduled to begin on Monday, Sept. 15. A news release from the ministry of the solicitor general said the presiding officer directed that the inquest be postponed.
No reason was provided for its cancellation. No new date has been provided for the previously scheduled five-day hearing.
Beskorowany died on Aug. 21, 2019, following injuries sustained while working at a surface mining site in River Valley. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
Beskorowany was employed by Consbec, a mining and construction contractor located in Val Caron, a Sudbury-area community.
According to the labour ministry, Beskorowany was critically injured while drilling in a quarry. No additional information was released about the circumstances surrounding the death.
