McDougall Energy has acquired Superior PetroFuels (a division of Superior Plus LP) and its home heating oil, commercial fuel and lubricant business.

The company, which made the announcement in a late-April news release, said included in the deal is a fully operational hub in St. Catharines, which would complement McDougall’s nearby St. George location. Staff at the St. Catharines location will remain in place.

Company president Darren McDougall said the company was excited to expand into the area.

“We are happy to be expanding our customer base and offer our quality local service as a fuel and lubricant provider,” he said in the release.

“We would like to welcome these new customers into the McDougall Energy fold. Our experience, mixed with our local, trusted support staff, will ensure that their transition is as seamless as possible.”

This marks the third acquisition for the company in the last six months.

Based in Sault Ste. Marie, McDougall Energy is a marketer and distributor of heating oil, propane, gasoline, diesel fuel, and commercial lubricants, in addition to being a branded retailer.

The company is currently in its 72nd year and third generation of family ownership.
