McDougall Energy has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for the seventh consecutive year, earning it ‘platinum’ status within the program.

The national program is an initiative of Deloitte, CIBC, Canadian Business, Smith School of Business and MacKay CEO Forums to acknowledge best practices amongst Canadian companies.

Reaching ‘platinum’ status denotes that the company has demonstrated strategy, capability, and commitment to achieve sustainable growth for seven years or more.

Based in Sault Ste. Marie, McDougall Energy is a marketer and distributor of heating oil, propane, gasoline, diesel fuel, and commercial lubricants, in addition to being a branded retailer.

The company is privately owned and currently in its third generation of family ownership.

“Becoming a platinum club member serves as a momentous occasion within our company’s 72-year history. I cannot think of a more deserving accomplishment to share with all those who have made this business what it is today,” McDougall Energy president Darren McDougall said in a news release.

“From those who supported my grandfather [Allan McDougall] when he started in Timmins to the various communities across Canada where we operate today, I truly want to thank everyone who has been a part of the McDougall Energy journey.”

The 2018 winners of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies award will be honoured at the annual Canada’s Best Managed Companies gala in Toronto on April 11.
