Ontario strengthening entertainment industry in the North

$6 million investment will promote economic development and create jobs

NORTH BAY — Oct. 4, 2022: The Ontario government is providing $6 million through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) to support the film industry in Northern Ontario.

This investment will help create jobs, attract talent and boost economic growth.

“Our government is proud to support the film and television industry in Northeastern Ontario, which continues to create good jobs and develop skilled local talent,” said Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing.

“Today’s funding is helping solidify the North’s reputation as a first-rate production centre in North America and the world.”

The following projects are receiving NOHFC funding:

  • $2,000,000 for Essex Season 1 (FGM) Inc. to produce the five-part miniseries Essex County
  • $2,000,000 for Sinking Ship Productions Inc. to produce the family television series Beyond Black Beauty
  • $500,000 for Bloody Hell Productions Inc. to produce the feature film Bloody Hell
  • $500,000 for HP Catering Christmas Productions Inc.to produce the feature film Catering for Christmas
  • $500,000 for HP Winter Palace Productions Inc to produce the made-for-television film Winter Palace
  • $500,000 for HP Homestead Christmas Productions Inc.to produce the holiday themed film Homestead for Christmas.
