Uride, a ridesharing service created in Northern Ontario, offers service in North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Timmins, and Thunder Bay, among other locations across Canada.

Uride, Canada’s homegrown ridesharing platform, is rolling out a nationwide Safe Rides Program to make rides more affordable and accessible for students heading back to class this fall.

Starting today, students in all 24 Uride cities will receive special student pricing on rides to and from universities, residences, and campus events — helping ensure they can travel safely, conveniently, and within budget.

The initiative comes as part of Uride’s founding mission: to fight impaired driving and save lives.

“We started Uride to prevent impaired driving and get people home safe,” said Cody Ruberto, founder and CEO of Uride. “Students should never have to choose between safety and affordability. Whether they need a ride home from a night out, or a ride to school in the morning, this program is about making safe rides the easy choice.”

The program is being launched in partnership with universities and student associations across Canada, with promo codes distributed in welcome packages, orientation kits, and campus events. Students will be able to start using Uride instantly for discounted trips to class, dorms, errands, and social outings.

“We truly appreciate Uride’s efforts to make transportation easier and more accessible for our incoming students as they settle into campus life,” said Himanshu Sharma, orientation chair of University of New Brunswick. “It gives peace of mind to parents, makes campus life more accessible, and helps reduce the risks of impaired driving in our community.”

“Uride offers students an affordable, safe, and convenient transportation option, helping them get to class, work, and social activities. With on-demand rides just a click away, students can rely on Uride for their daily needs,” said Kjell Kjemhus, president of Okanagan Business Students' Association.

“Travelling in a new city can be expensive for students. Uride’s initiative provides safe, reliable, and budget-friendly rides that really make campus life easier,” said Brooke, a student at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan.

Since its launch, Uride has expanded to 24 Canadian cities and provided millions of safe rides to students and residents alike, while supporting local drivers and communities.

Students can access discounted rides 24/7, directly through the Uride app, available on iOS and Android.
