Barry Payne and Kate Durst bring experience and expertise to Indigenous development group

The Mushkegowuk Development Corporation announces the appointment of two new directors to their board, Barry Payne and Kate Durst.

“We have been extremely fortunate to have a board comprised of a dedicated and passionate group of community leaders, with diverse experience and expertise,” said current director and officer Waylon Iserhoff. “We look forward to working with Barry and Kate and recognize their knowledge and commitment, which will be important to advancing our business goals and to create sincere and positive impacts for our partners and region.

Appointed to the board are:

Barry Payne has successfully led the creation and startup of multiple businesses in the retail trade and B2B sectors from his home on Hiawatha First Nation. He became the third largest supplier to the Canadian federal government, with sales in excess of $20 million and a nationally recognized company across Canada. Barry’s board experience is vast across varying levels, including prestigious government appointments His business acumen aligns with our overall growth strategy and especially complements market expansion plans for our subsidiary, MDC Supply.

Kate Durst is a seasoned business owner of over 20 years, highly professional, disciplined, with extensive experience in leading organizations, and a resilient leader with strategic development skills sharpened through her experience in the for-profit and NGO sectors. Kate’s strong desire and drive to make positive social impacts, along with her passionate and charismatic personality, align with our corporate goals of sustainability and prosperity for our region.
