CFA Institute recognizes Lakehead University’s honours bachelor of commerce, finance major program

Program participation opens up scholarship opportunities

Lakehead University has become the latest university to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program.

CFA Institute has recognized Lakehead’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce, Finance Major program as incorporating at least 70 percent of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK).

The Lakehead program places an emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

“We are very pleased to join the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program,” said Dr. Wing Him Yeung, Chair, Undergraduate Curriculum Years 3 & 4 and Associate Professor, Finance in the Faculty of Business Administration at Lakehead University.

“This affiliation will further enable Lakehead’s Faculty of Business Administration to support the future career goals of our students. This puts students on track to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world,” Dr. Yeung added.

Entry into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that Lakehead University’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce, Finance Major curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations.

Through participation in this program, Lakehead University is eligible to receive a limited number of CFA Program Student Scholarships each year.

The Faculty of Business Administration at Lakehead University is accredited by AACSB and CPA Ontario. The Faculty, and its precursor, the School of Business Administration, has been offering business programming since 1965.

The Faculty offers an Honours Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Administration, Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Management, and a Graduate Diploma in Accounting.
