The Sudbury med-tech company IRegained has signed a distribution deal to sell its stroke rehabilitation device to health-care providers in Canada.

On May 8, the company announced it has reached a distribution agreement with UpCare Partners and Associates Inc., a Toronto-based distributor of innovative medical technologies specializing in neuroscience.

IRegained makes the MyHand system, which provides personalized hand function therapy to individuals recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, or other neurological or musculoskeletal conditions.

“We are truly thrilled to partner with UpCare to expand the reach of the MyHand® System across all of Canada,” said Vineet Johnson, CEO of IRegained Inc., in a news release.

“This partnership will ensure that health-care providers have access to a best-in-class rehabilitation solution that empowers stroke survivors and other patients to regain independence and improve their quality of life.”

Last summer, IRegained announced it had secured a partnership for a U.S. distributor, Performance Health, after receiving approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to move closer to commercialization.

IRegained had previously secured deals with a variety of Canadian and U.S. hospitals and clinics to use MyHand, but the device had not been widely available.

Reaching distribution agreements with the U.S. and now Canada, means the system will get into more health-care settings.

“At UpCare, we are committed to bringing innovative solutions to Canadian healthcare providers,” said Olivier Poitier, CEO of UpCare, in the release.

“As a company deeply invested in neuroscience, we see the MyHand System as an essential addition to our ecosystem, perfectly aligning with our strategy of providing comprehensive neurological care solutions. We are excited to collaborate with IRegained and contribute to the transformation of rehabilitation therapy.”
