Twelve of Canada’s emerging mining-technology startups will be demonstrating their innovations in Toronto this fall as part of the annual conference hosted by the Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator (MICA).

MICA is a Sudbury-based, pan-Canadian organization aimed at speeding up the development and commercialization of technologies to help mining become more productive and sustainable.

Its fourth annual Innovation Showcase and Conference, taking place Nov. 5-6 at the Radisson Blu in downtown Toronto, serves to connect mining stakeholders with industry leaders and learn about new innovations in the sector.

In past years, the event has included keynotes and interactive sessions on topics including environment, social and corporate governance (ESG); decarbonization; innovative tailings solutions; artificial intelligence, automation, and robotics, among others.

New this year is the mining tech demo day, which will take place on Nov. 5.

MICA is currently soliciting applications for companies interested in being part of that day’s demonstrations. Among the list of eligibility criteria, companies must be Canada-based, have been incorporated for 10 years or less, and at the startup or growth stage.

Successful candidates will have 10 minutes to pitch their technology, an opporutnity to answer questions and get feedback from an expert panel, and attend a reception.

The deadline to apply is Friday, Aug. 22.
