Timmins’ Radical Gardens has been recognized with a pair of awards from the national hospitality financing organization SilverChef.

SilverChef is a Vancouver, B.C.-based group that helps restaurants, cafés, coffee roasters, and other industry businesses with financing equipment.

The Timmins eatery received the Communitarian Award, which recognizes restaurant owners who give back, either through community giving, or hiring practices that impact their local communities.

Radical Gardens was also named Hospitality Business of the Year, which goes to the restaurant with the highest score overall.

Created originally as a farm growing and selling produce locally, Radical Gardens has evolved into a restaurant and catering business, focusing on serving fresh, local food in interesting combinations and pairings.

The restaurant also operates a food truck in the summer, and has hosted and sponsored several unique events, including the Dinner in White and Bacon Fest.
