Northwestern recreational facilities to get facelift (3/02)

Four recreational facilities in northwestern Ontario will receive a total of $321,000 from the federal government. The infrastructure spending will enhance facilities at Dryden, Red Lake, Ignace and Savant Lake.

Four recreational facilities in northwestern Ontario will receive a total of $321,000 from the federal government. The infrastructure spending will enhance facilities at Dryden, Red Lake, Ignace and Savant Lake.

The City of Dryden recreation complex will receive $171,334 towards replacing a roof estimated to cost $520,000. The Cochenour Memorial Arena will receive $102,113 towards a $306,340-renovation project. The Ignace Recreation Centre will receive $23,039 towards a $69,119-project to replace arena boards and improve energy efficiency. The Savant Lake Community Centre will receive $24,750 towards a $55,000-improvement project.

The four municipalities will provide the balance of the funding for their projects.
