Statistics Canada reports that the unemployment rate for Thunder Bay has risen from eight per cent in August of 2000 to 8.4 per cent in August of this year. However, the jobless rate still remains one per cent lower than Sudbury's jobless rate of 9.4 per cent and 1.2 per cent higher than the national rate of 7.2 per cent.
