Officials with the City of Dryden anticipate a busy year for the construction industry next year, and into consecutive years, as major projects head into development stages. A new school, learning centre, auditorium and $150-million upgrades at Weyerhaeuser's mill in Dryden are among several large-scale projects already in the works in the area. Officials with the city say the projects will generate employment for about 600 people in the industry and inject about $30 million into the local economy.

Other projects on the list include: renovations at the Dryden Regional Health Centre, expansion of the Pincecrest Home for the Aged, construction of a supermarket and expansion of the Wal-Mart.
