Soucie Salo Safety has been in business since 1955.

Source Atlantic, a distributor of maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) supplies headquartered in St. John, NB, has acquired Soucie Salo Safety.

Soucie Salo Safety was established in Sudbury in 1955, and currently has four locations in Sudbury and Timmins, employing 25 people. The company distributes personal protective equipment and safety equipment for workers and companies in the mining, construction, forestry, government, health care, manufacturing, and service industries.

Source Atlantic announced on July 21 it had acquired the majority shares of Soucie Salo Safety.

Pat Heaphy, former owner at Soucie Salo, will continue as a partner and lead the Soucie Salo team in Sudbury. Helene and Ray Poirier will continue as partners and lead the Timmins operation.

“It was extremely important for us to find a company that values our unique approach to delivering exceptional customer service,” Heaphy said in a release.

“Source Atlantic’s ability to provide specialized technical services and value-added solutions will provide Soucie Salo with the ability to further enhance the customer experience to our clients in Ontario.”

Source Atlantic said the acquisition would allow the company to provide “a nearly national footprint for the company.”

“The fit between Source Atlantic and Soucie Salo Safety is undeniable,” Source Atlantic president Steve Drummond said in the release.

“Both companies believe in proactively identifying ways to resolve customer issues and creating quantifiable value in both process and supply.”

Source Atlantic has been in operation since 1867 and provides MRO products and supplemental services and solutions to the industrial, government, commercial and residential contractor markets.

The company has more than 400 employees at 25 branches across Canada.

It was distinguished with a Canada’s Best Managed Companies award in 2017.
