Weyerhaeuser's waste sawdust will now be used a raw material for a proposed wood pellet fuel to be built in Wawa. Gerry Bugyra, president of NorWa Manufacturing and Distribution Company Ltd. plans to create 15 full-time jobs at Wawa's industrial park when the mill is operational this August. Wood pellet fuel is used to heat homes through cogeneration operations and in boiler systems to heat greenhouses. Bugyra signed a long-term agreement to buy sawdust and other wood waste from Weyerhaeuser, sourced through their oriented strand board plant near Wawa. He hopes this is the first of four mills for Northern Ontario.
