McDougall Energy, headquartered in Sault Ste. Marie, has acquired Davis Fuels, a family-owned fuel distributor based in Burford, near Brantford in southern Ontario.
Under the agreement, which came into effect on Dec. 15, Davis Fuels will retain its name but become a division of McDougall Energy. The 61-year-old family-owned company is one of the largest independently owned petroleum distributors in Ontario, serving customers in Brantford, Brant County, Burford, Simcoe, London, Hagersville, Tillsonburg, and Woodstock.

“Davis Fuels provides great opportunity and their reputation speaks for their commitment to customer service and community. Not only do they have many years of experience and knowledge of the industry, but it’s their grassroots, customer-driven focus that makes this addition a great fit for McDougall Energy. I am looking forward to working with the Davis family and the future that this division holds.”
Davis Fuels vice-president Don Kersey said joining McDougall would help sustain the company and best serve its customers.
“We wanted to be sure that our customers and the communities in which we operate continued to receive the same great quality of service and social responsibility that they have come to expect,” Kersey said. “We believe that McDougall Energy is, and will continue to be a company that ensures these principles are upheld.”
McDougall Energy is a marketer and distributor of heating oil, propane, gasoline, diesel fuel and commercial lubricants, as well as an EssoTM retailer. The company is currently in its third generation of family ownership.
This marks the second acquisition for the Sault Ste. Marie company in a month. On Nov. 29, McDougall announced it had acquired a fuel and lubricant business in Owen Sound previously owned by Pepco Corp.
