Sault College's new $350,000 aviation pilot training facilities opened in March and include two state-of-the-art flight simulators. The new program facility is part of a $4-million renovation effort at the institute. Manufactured by Mechtronix Systems of Montreal, the Ascent simulators cost close to $1 million. The popular three-year program enrols about 150 students annually. FedNor provided $500,000 in funding support. The college owns a hangar at the Sault Ste. Marie Airport and a fleet of nine single-engine and two twin-engine training aircraft.
