A search is underway to find a new president for Algoma University.

Former president Dr. Craig Chamberlin announced his resignation on Dec. 2. Another former president, Dr. Celia Ross, has been serving as interim president since his departure.

In a release, the Sault Ste. Marie university said a Presidential Search Committee has been formed to oversee the process and recommend a candidate to the board of governors.

The search committee has broad representation from the university community, including University senate, students, faculty, staff and Anishinaabe partners.

“This is an exciting time for Algoma University, we are in search of a dynamic leader who can work with us to fulfill our special mission,” Ross said in the release.

“Input from all university stakeholder groups is critical in helping ensure the ongoing success of Algoma U.”

Once the search commences, updates will be posted on Algoma’s website at www.algomau.ca/pres-search.
