It’s almost time for the Cameco Community Barbecue, a free, fun, all-ages, family-friendly event for the whole community!
The Third Annual Cameco Community Barbecue is happening Thursday September 11 at Sellers Park, Lakeside Ave. in Blind River from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. or until the last burger has been barbecued.
The menu is varied, including hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, salads, chips, beverages and desserts, so there is something for everyone.
“The barbecue is a wonderful opportunity to meet our leaders and subject matter experts and learn about Cameo’s operations, such as our environmental monitoring program, regulatory compliance, and the nuclear fuel cycle,” said Terry Davis, general manager of the Blind River Refinery.
“Our barbecue brings people together in a relaxed and welcoming environment, encouraging questions and conversations and strengthening community relations,” added Davis.
He continued, “By investing in events like these, we can share more information about our operations and activities. We take immense pride in operating responsibly and contributing positively to the local area while working towards supporting the production of nuclear energy around the world.”
New this year, at the barbecue, community members can sign up for a public tour of the Refinery this fall. Tour availability is limited, so be sure to come out to the barbecue and take advantage of this opportunity to sign up.
“We look forward to meeting and hosting our community at our annual barbecue,” said Davis. “We will see everyone at Sellers Park on September 11!”
