Gord Miller, Ontario’s former environmental commissioner, has been named to the foundation board of Canadore College in North Bay.
Rick Evans, board chair, made the announcement in a Feb. 1 news release.
After a 15-year tenure heading up the provincial environmental watchdog agency, Miller stepped down last May to represent the Green Party in Guelph in the federal election.
The news release said Miller is “highly-respected for his accomplishments in office such as targeting greenhouse gas emissions and energy conservation priorities.”
Miller published academic, scientific and political articles about environmental issues, and was a frequent speaker at conferences on topics of reclamation, native vegetation, environmental technologies and environmental protectionism.
He holds a bachelor of science and a master of science from the University of Guelph.
