The third annual Beyond Digital Transformation (BDT) 2020 conference in Sudbury has announced a venue change that will allow the event to expand its reach.

Moved from the United Steelworkers Hall on Brady Street, BDT will now be held at Cambrian College's eDome in the Centre for Smart Mining from Feb. 5 to 6.

There, the conference will be live-streamed on the Orion Network, a dedicated high-speed fibre-optic network that supports research, education and innovation in Ontario. These simultaneous live-stream sessions will be broadcast to mining and technology programs and centres across the province.

The organizers of the conference, PACE (Partners in Achieving Change Excellence), also announced a partnership with CIM (the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum), which will help expand awareness of the event.

“This year, we are excited to really push the conference to the next level in attendance, engagement, and technology adoption through the reach of the Orion Network and partnership with CIM,” said PACE.global CEO Neha Singh in a press release.

“I am grateful for the leadership and guidance from our conference chair, CIM president Roy Slack, who suggested engaging mining and technology schools in the program as well.”

The theme of the BDT 2020 conference is Data to Decisions. The event aims to encourage innovation in the mining industry.

Insitutions interested in participating as a livecast location are encouraged to visit BDT 2020 online. Registration to attend the conference at the eDome is now open and tickets are limited.
