A workshop being hosted by the Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce Inc. will examine potential collaborations between German and Canadian companies in the mining industry.

Sponsored by the Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Services Association (SAMSSA), the workshop takes place April 24 at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Sudbury from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The key presenter is Aarti Mona Soerensen, a native German based in Toronto, who is in charge of implementing a pilot project that would enhance bilateral relationships in the mining sector. Through the project, the German government will establish a Competence Centre for Mining and Mineral Resources at the Canadian German Chamber of Commerce Inc. in Toronto.

During part one of the workshop, participants will get an overview of the German mining supply sector and its raw materials supply situation, as well as an outlook on the German mineral resources strategy, and the current political and economic activities underway to implement this strategy.

Part two of the workshop examines opportunities for collaboration between SAMSSA members and Germany in the mineral resource supply sector.

Registration is required by April 19. Email Dick DeStefano at destefan@isys.ca for more information.
