Vale has new Ontario operations VP

Vale has appointed Stuart Harshaw as its new vice-president of Ontario operations. Harshaw, who has worked for the company since 1990, took over the positon on Jan. 11.

Vale has appointed Stuart Harshaw as its new vice-president of Ontario operations.

Harshaw, who has worked for the company since 1990, took over the positon on Jan. 11.

In his current role, he is responsible for the base metal operations of Vale in Ontario. That includes six mines, a mill, smelter, nickel refinery, cobalt refinery, precious metal refinery and hydroelectric production facilities in the Sudbury and Port Colborne areas.

Harshaw was previously vice-president of marketing and sales for base metals in the Asia Pacific region and before that served as vice-president of marketing for Vale Canada.

Harshaw earned his MBA from Laurentian University in Sudbury and a Bachelor of Science degree in metallurgical engineering from Queen’s University.
