Probe Mines updates gold exploration in Chapleau

Results from drilling at Probe Mines’ Borden Gold project near Chapleau have been released and show potential for an underground operation.

Results from drilling at Probe Mines’ Borden Gold project near Chapleau have been released and show potential for an underground operation.

Highlights of the recent assay results include an extension of a high-grade zone by 200 metres with improved grading, confirmation of high-grade zone from step-out drilling, and significant intersections of shallow mineralization from infill drilling.

The Borden Gold project is located approximately 160 km southwest of the city of Timmins and 9 km east-northeast of the town of Chapleau. The Borden Gold project is approximately 15 kilometres from well-developed infrastructure.

In a release, the company said the new scope of the mineralization is amenable to underground recovery, while the lower-grade mineralization lends itself to potential open-pit techniques.

Dr. David Palmer, president and CEO of Probe, said the company has now shifted its focus to the high-grade gold zone, mobilizing four drills to the southeast area of the property to work on expansion and infill drilling.

“Our goal is to include as much of the new high-grade gold mineralization into an updated NI 43-101 resource estimate later this year,” Palmer said in a statement. “The evolution of this deposit has been remarkable, going from a grass-roots discovery to a continuous gold horizon over three kilometres in strike length, in under three years, and we see much more potential ahead as we continue our technical program."
