Thunder Bay's Premier Gold Mines named Paul Blatter as its director of metallurgy.

With more than 13 years experience in mine development and metallurgy, Blatter previously worked at Agnico Eagle Mines, and Matamec Explorations.

A March 18 company release said Blatter will work on metallurgy and milling concepts for Premier's more advanced stage projects, including an economic evaluation of the Trans-Canada project near Geraldton and metallurgy work for the Cove Gold project in Nevada.
"The addition of Paul to Premier's team confirms our commitment to building an industry-best team with substantial mineral exploration and mine development experience as we implement our strategy to convert from explorer to developer" said Premier president-CEO Ewan Downie in a statement.

Premier plans to spend more than $30 million spent on exploration and development on three projects, “the most aggressive budget in corporate history.”

More drilling and conceptual mine modeling are planned for the Brookbank and Hardrock deposits in advance of a planned preliminary economic assessment. Drilling is also planned for Cove Gold and at Red Lake with an underground program for a tram development currently being excavated through its Rahill-Bonanza joint venture project with Red Lake Gold Mines.
