Ring of Fire junior miner Noront Resources named Alan Coutts as its new president and CEO.

Ring of Fire junior miner Noront Resources named Alan Coutts as its new president and CEO.

Coutts brings more than 25 years of experience to the job in exploration, feasibility, construction and production of mineral deposits both domestically and internationally.

Most recently he was managing director of Xstrata Nickel Australasia and has served roles mostly for Falconbridge throughout his career.

He starts the job Oct. 1, Coutts replaces Wes Hanson who left the company last winter.
Company chairman and interim CEO Paul Parisotto said in a Sept. 24 release that Coutts brings a wealth of experience in developing mines in remote regions and in working with local stakeholders and government in bringing about positive results.

“We are confident that Alan will be able to apply his skills to further the development and progression of Noront's Ring of Fire properties."

Noront is developing its Eagle's Nest nickel, copper, platinum and palladium deposit and Blackbird chromite deposit in the James Bay lowlands.
