Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the 2014 Energy and Mines Ministers’ Conference in Sudbury, beginning Aug. 25.

The three-day conference, hosted by Collège Boréal, is a gathering of leading federal, provincial and territorial leaders meeting to share “best practices” in the Canadian mining and energy industry.

On Aug. 26, Gravelle will stage a joint press conference with Ontario Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli and federal Natural Resources Minister Greg Rickford.

The Wynne government promised to formally establish a Ring of Fire development corporation within 60 days of the July 3 throne speech.

The province has also been urging Ottawa to match its $1-billion commitment toward transportation infrastructure to reach the stranded mineral deposits in the James Bay region.
