Lakeside Process Controls cut the ribbon on its new Thunder Bay facility on June 24. On hand were Greg Houston, Lakeside Process Controls’ president; Thunder Bay Acting Mayor Dominic Pasqualino; Tim Tenhave from Confederation College; Ron Marostica of Marostica Subaru; and representatives from Sierra Builders who helped build the facility.

Lakeside Process Controls has opened a brand-new facility in Thunder Bay to better serve clients throughout northwestern Ontario.

The Mississauga-headquartered company, which specializes in automation solutions across multiple industries, announced July 8 it’s opened a brand-new, 13,400-square-foot facility, including an 8,000-square-foot service shop and 5,400 square feet of office space, in an industrial section in the city's core.

Lakehead has served the northwest for decades — in the metals and mineral mining, pulp and paper, power, and water and wastewater industries — from its Russell Road location a few blocks over.

But the company said this new facility “marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to northwestern Ontario.”

“This expansion reflects our belief in building strong partnerships and our readiness to respond with enhanced capabilities and local expertise,” Lakeside said in a news release.

“With this new facility, we are now better equipped to host and serve our customers with a broader range of services and solutions.”

Lakeside said it's expanded its in-shop services to include valve repairs, instrumentation, reliability and automation services.

It's also added new capabilities, such as:

  • an analytical centre of excellence, which is focused on process analytics for gas and liquid applications;
  • a systems and software solutions lab, which supports automation, reliability, and safety systems (including DeltaV and AMS);
  • an instrumentation shop, which is dedicated to measurement services and support; and
  • local service rentals including Flexim and machinery health crash carts.

The company, which has been in operation for more than 70 years, additionally has a location in Sudbury.
