A geothermal energy study in Timmins is moving ahead, following a recent funding announcement from the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines. Minister Jim Wilson announced in October that the city would receive $45,000 for the study. The intent of the study is to find ways of reducing energy costs at Timmins and District Hospital and McIntyre Arena. An announcement about a partnership between the city, the province, the federal govenment and the private sector is expected in the near future.
