Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) is committing $1.22 million in funding toward First Nations in northwestern Ontario.

Over three years, $1 million will be allocated to the Mishkeegogaming and Eabametoong First Nations with the intention of developing a joint land use plan. Another $100,000 will be used to conduct community consultations with vested parties to reach a consensus on the land use planning study.

The remaining $120,000 will be spent equally on reviewing harvesting partnerships and establishing a new winter road plan for the First Nations living in the area.
