Golder Associates , a global engineering, design and construction firm, has announced it’s reducing its staff by 500 people, or six per cent, globally.

Golder Associates, a global engineering, design and construction firm, has announced it’s reducing its staff by 500 people, or six per cent, globally.

The company, which has a presence on four continents, has Northern Ontario offices in Sudbury and Thunder Bay.

The company said in a statement that the changes would “ensure there are balanced teams of strong performers who can deliver excellent work for clients and contribute to the communities in which Golder works.”

“Taking action now means Golder enters 2015 in a strong position, sustaining our competitive edge,” Brian Conlin, president and CEO, said in a news release.

“Adjusting to meet dynamic market conditions is essential in any good business,” he added. “Golder is a strong company with outstanding, talented people. Our clients know us for high-quality technical solutions and services, and we will continue to provide these with talented teams of people around the world, meeting the needs of our clients and their businesses for decades to come.”
