POSITION OVERVIEW
As a highly skilled and experienced Surface Safety Advisor, you will be a part of the Health & Safety team at our Eagle River mining operation. This position plays a critical role in promoting and maintaining a culture of safety excellence across surface operations, including processing, maintenance, and support services. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and passionate about ensuring everyone goes home safe, every day.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountabilities and duties will include but not limited to the following:

  • Promote and enforce compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and government regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments of surface operations.
  • Facilitate safety meetings, and training sessions for employees and contractors.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses; support root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support the implementation of site-wide safety initiatives, including hazard identification and control programs.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records and contribute to internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a safety mentor and coach for front-line personnel and supervisors.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams to ensure safe work practices.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS– Education, Experience, Certifications

  • Certificate/Diploma or higher in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a safety advisory role, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
  • Knowledge of mining, milling operations and relevant regulations (MSHA, OSHA, or local equivalents).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Valid First Aid and H2S (or regional equivalent) certification is an asset.
  • Proficient in incident reporting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work a rotation schedule and adapt to remote, camp-based living conditions.
  • Valid drivers license in good standing;

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Travel required based on business needs;
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals;
  • Virtual, remote and on-site work required;
  • Shift is 7 days on, followed by 7 days off
  • Work may be required outside of regular hours, as per business needs;
  • The physical requirements of this position include reading, walking, standing, sitting, reaching, kneeling, repetitive motions, stooping, balancing, pushing, pulling and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
