Hospital bids reviewed

Three bid teams are eligible to submit a proposal to build, finance and maintain Sault Ste. Marie’s new hospital.

Three bid teams are eligible to submit a proposal to build, finance and maintain Sault Ste. Marie’s new hospital.

A Request for Qualifications issued by the provincial government in April has identified the project teams with the required project development, construction, operational and financial capacity to carry out building the 289-bed facility.

Contractor EllisDon Corporation and engineers Carillion Canada are part of a bidding group known as Hospital Infrastructure Partners. Deutsche Bank AG and PCL Constructors head up Plenary Health. SNC-Lavalin and Bondfield Construction have teamed up as the third bidding team.

The project will be privately financed under Queen’s Park new Alternative Financing and Procurement process under the Ministry of Public Infrastructure Renewal’s Re-New Ontario capital program.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued this fall.

The three qualifying development teams will have an opportunity to submit a formal plan to build, finance and maintain the new  hospital.
