The Algoma Workforce Investment Committee (AWIC) is hosting a forum next month that will highlight the effect of green initiatives on new and existing roles in the workforce.
The Green Collar Economy Forum, to be held March 6 at Sault College, will feature discussions about the impact of green projects and programs on the energy, manufacturing and construction sectors. Attendees will learn more about the types of jobs created in these sectors by green initiatives and the effect on existing roles in the workforce.
“There are many green initiatives across many sectors underway in the region of Algoma, and we want to show the potential impact of these initiatives on jobs in the region,” said Jonathan Coulman, executive director of AWIC, in a news release.
Guest speakers include Tom Vair, executive director of the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre, Evelyn Lundchild, manager for the industrial-conservation division at the Ontario Power Authority, and Michael Spendik, a LEED-certified member of the Canadian Green Building Council.
