Construction of the vital winter roads network, connecting remote First Nation communities, is in full swing.
The province is chipping in more than $4.7 million to build and operate more than 3,000 kilometres of these access roads with support from the federal government, 29 First Nation organizations and the Town of Moosonee,
The network is essential for hauling fuel, construction material and other goods.
The winter roads connect to the provincial highway or railway system, and are in use from winter freeze-up to spring thaw in mid-March.
