Nickel giant Vale is looking to hire more than 40 engineers for its Sudbury operations, in addition to geologists, geophysicists, supervisors, miners, surface plant operators and trades people.
“Unprecedented investments in Vale’s Sudbury operations have produced a large number of new and exciting career opportunities,” said Kelly Strong, general manager of Vale’s Ontario operations, in a news release. “We need engineers from a wide variety of disciplines and experience—from new graduates to senior professionals.”
Vale will invest $3.4 billion in its Sudbury operations by the end of 2015. These investments are aimed at rebuilding and modernizing assets, reducing emissions, extending the life of existing mines and finding new sources of ore to ensure Vale’s ongoing sustainability.
“The success of these investments and the future of our operations rest on the expertise of the thousands of dedicated employees that work for Vale each and every day,” Strong said in the release. “Without a doubt, people are our greatest and most important resource.”
Vale’s Sudbury operations currently employ almost 4,000 people at six underground mines, a mill, a smelter and a refinery. The company offers challenging opportunities, competitive benefits and career development programs. Vale has emphasized its dedication to the highest levels of safety, environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
