Trelawney Mining has updated the gold resource at its Cote Lake deposit in northeastern Ontario.
Its Chester project, located between Sudbury and Timmins, contains an indicated resource of 35 million tonnes averaging 0.82 grams per tonne (g/t) for 0.93 million ounces and an inferred resource of 204 million tonnes averaging 0.91 g/t for 5.94 million ounces.
The company said that's an overall increase of 63 per cent since the last resource estimate in 2011.
In a statement, Trelawney president Greg Gibson calls the gold increase a “significant step” toward advancing the project to the next step.
Nine drills are working the property this winter to define and expand the deposit to the north.
