With James Bay mineral development moving at a breakneck pace, the Ontario government wants someone to get a handle on all this activity in the Ring of Fire.
The Ministry of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry (MNDMF) is looking for an executive lead to head up a proposed organization called the Ring of Fire Secretariat.
This person must be politically astute, know how to problem-solve, be familiar with land and resource issues, have outstanding analytical skills and know how to deal with a myriad of people who all have a stake in this groundbreaking economic and social opportunity in the Far North.
And they need someone ASAP. Deadline for applications to the Ministry of Government Services is July 9.
The job pays well, with a salary range between $146,700 and $167,650.
There will be plenty of travel and the successful applicant will be based out of Thunder Bay or Toronto. However, the government is open to another Northern Ontario location based on the person's preference.
The executive lead must develop a strategic vision and framework to "facilitate the successful development" of this exploration camp.
Developing partnerships, alliances and consultation with Aboriginal communities and the mining industry will be a primary responsibility.
The MNDMF has said the appointee will likely report directly to an assistant deputy minister.
