Sudbury’s growing reputation as a filming hotspot for the entertainment industry has extended to include Collège Boréal, where a Canadian production is being filmed this month.
The movie Cas & Dylan features Oscar-winner Richard Dreyfuss and Canadian actress Tatiana Maslany, and is being directed by Canadian actor Jason Priestly. A crew of 63 people will be in Sudbury filming until mid-September.
"Collège Boréal is proud to offer its services and expertise for a production at the international level,” said Tina Montgomery, dean of the school of arts at Collège Boréal, in a news release. "The many partnerships we have formed since 2010 in the fields of theatre, television, movies and in the trades related to the performing arts contribute to the development of a thriving entertainment industry in Northern Ontario. Through these efforts, Collège Boréal trains a qualified workforce to meet the needs of a booming industry while participating in its region's cultural and economic development."
This fall, the college is expected to inaugurate its new concert hall, a state-of-the-art venue able to seat an audience of 350 people.
