Some of Sudbury's most prominent voices in home construction will sound off over the airwaves about the proposed hike in development charges on June 22, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., on CKLU 96.7 FM.
City councillors are currently examining the option of raising development charges from $3,079 for single-family dwellings to nearly $13,808, a number which city consultants say to be closer to the provincial average. However, developers argue not only would the move kill development at a time of hardship for the industry, but the underlying calculations used by the city are flawed.
These and other discussions will be highlighted by participants, which include Dalron Construction's Kristi Arnold, Lifestyle Homes' Joanne Caouette, Corsi Developments' Paul Corsi, and Sudbury District Home Builders Association executive director Denise Lafond.
