Debbi Nicholson, president of the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, has received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her service to the community, province and country.
“We are proud that Debbi has been recognized for her contribution to the development and improvement of her community,” chair Mark Weiman said in a news release. “Her strong leadership over the years has not only demonstrated her commitment to the chamber, but has also highlighted her professional and volunteer contributions to our province and country.”
The commemorative medal was created in
2011 to mark the 60th anniversary of the accession to the throne of
Queen Elizabeth II.
“I am honoured and humbled by this award,”
Nicholson said. “Every day I work to serve our members and hope
that it translates into a stronger, more prosperous community and
country. This honour confirms that and provides me with a renewed
sense of purpose in my day-to-day activities.”
Canadian
recipients received 60,000 of the medals.
