Sudburian named to Ontario advisory panel

Floyd Laughren, chair of the board of governors at Laurentian University, has been named to the province's Economic Advisory Panel.

The former Ontario minister of finance was named along with four other members to the panel, which was established in 2008 in response to the province's economic downturn.

“The members of the Ontario Economic Advisory Panel are leaders in their respective fields and continue to provide excellent ideas, analysis and advice on ways to strengthen our economy that creates jobs, attracts investment and supports quality public services,” said Finance Minister Dwight Duncan in a news release.

Other members named to the panel include Eoin Callan, advisor to the Service Employees International Union and a director of SEIU Capital Stewardship; Dr. Alex Himelfarb, director of the Glendon School of Public and International Affairs at York University and former clerk of the Privy Council and secretary to the cabinet; J. Robert S. Prichard, chair of Torys LLP International Law Firm and chair of Metrolinx; and Michael H. McCain, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Foods Inc.
