Snowstorm fails to stop SAMSSA AGM

Neither wind nor 20 centimetres of snow could prevent the Sudbury Area Mining Service and Supply Association (SAMSSA)'s annual general meeting from kicking off at the local Howard Johnson on Dec. 9 for a morning of discussion and celebration.

Neither wind nor 20 centimetres of snow could prevent the Sudbury Area Mining Service and Supply Association (SAMSSA)'s annual general meeting from kicking off at the local Howard Johnson on Dec. 9 for a morning of discussion and celebration.

The event marked the induction of fifth and sixth members of the SAMSSA Hall of Fame, Ron Miller of Miller Technologies, and Peter Matusch of the CCM Group of Companies.

Also on the agenda was the appointment of Bestech's Marc Boudreau as SAMSSA's new president, who replaces former president Jeff Fuller of Fuller Industrial.

The morning capped off with a roundtable discussion on how local firms can successfully approach 2010, with members pushing diversification and "Lean" principles of sustainable and efficient production.
