The groundbreaking for Algoma University's new BioSciences building takes place Sept. 11 in Sault Ste. Marie.
Officially known as the BioSciences and Technologies Convergence Centre, the $16 million project is being built with federal and provincial funds provided by the Knowledge Infrastructure Program and the Ontario budget.
The 48,000-square-foot building will be located on the north end of the Queen Street campus.
Its construction is being heralded as a “significant step” for the university. When completed, the building will boost the school's research capacity with new opportunities for student and faculty in biology, compute science and computer games technology.
