Salaries for Canadians will are getting smaller for most positions, but certain select jobs are still expected to see an increase in pay, according to the findings in the 2010 salary guides Robert Half International has released.
"In the 2010 salary trends in the accounting and finance world, starting salaries by an average of 0.4 per cent," said Mike Gooley, metro market manager with Robert Half Canada Inc.
It’s the first time in years the average has decreased in this sector, with recent years seeing increases in pay from two to four per cent.
"Look at what’s going on around us – the economy. Companies continue to scrutinize their expenses."
Robert Half annual salary guides cover finance and accounting, technology, legal, office team and advertising. The data collected for the 2010 salary guide comes from the thousands of placements Robert Half co-ordinated this year as well as surveys and other research.
