Rubicon Minerals has five drills turning, both on surface and underground, as the Vancouver junior proves up its Phoenix Gold Project at Red Lake.
The company began sinking a shaft June 28 which has reached a depth of 142 metres below ground. Once the shaft reaches between 300 and 350 metres, a 300 to 400 metre cross drift is planned for more diamond drilling.
Three drill rigs are on surface and two are below ground at 122-metre level.
In early June, Rubicon reported promising results from two deep master holes which confirmed gold is present at depth. One drill hole intersected 22.9 grams per tonne over 0.5 metre.
It's part of a larger 80,000-metre drill program designed to expand its high-grade F2 gold zone.
The company is drilling an additional 20,000 metres to test a number of targets outside of the F2 zone.
